A few days ago I’ve been to the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht for Armin van Buuren’s huge party Armin Only. This is the third edition of Armin Only and instead of Ahoy Rotterdam Armin decided to go even bigger and choose the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.

The organisation of Armin Only used to be UDC but this time ALDA-events which used to be Armada Events. The people behind ALDA are former ceo of Armada Events, Allan Harderberg, and David Lewis, the current director of David Lewis Productions. I think we will hear much more of this company because Armin Only was very well organised (apart from a few minor issues of course).

I can be very short about the event itself: IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FABOLOUS! I consider this party as the best party I’ve ever been to because Armin played a wicked set! Apart from that the live-acts were very very good! Especially Benno (from Rank 1) together with Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation singing “In and Out of Love”! WOW! She has a great voice and she is very good looking as well ;).

All the other live-acts were: Jacqueline Govaert from Krezip, Chris Jones together with DJ Shah, Jennifer Renee, Armins brother Eller van Buuren, Susana, Audrey Gallagher, Cathy Burton & Elles de Graaf. Every time at Armin Only Armin knows how to give the audience the time of their lives.

It was very amazing to see that it was pretty full already at the end of the gig. Maybe it helps that the Jaarbeurs has a trainstation nearby but I am very sure that in Ahoy Rotterdam at the end of the show many people left already. The athmospere was absolutely fantastic and as always you only see happy people and nothing but that.

The only small thing that bothered me was the fact that Armin was playing behind a curtain until 01:00 and the show finally started. He did that in Rotterdam too and at my opinion it’s a little boring.

I just got back from the Melkweg in Amsterdam and the party was AMAZING! After walking 20 minutes in the rain we finally arrived at the venue and we entered the club for the party. Me and my mate were pretty excited because First State was the first of the night on the wheels of steel!

Their set was a pretty good warmin-up for Markus & Menno de Jong but it was too bad that the room wasn’t full at all! After First State it was time for Eelke Kleijn to perform a set to the crowd. In the meantime more and more people found their way inside and the atmoshpere was absolutely fantastic! Unfortunately Eelke’s liveset bored me a little bit and too bad for him he had problems with a cd-player or something like that.

Finally, after First State and Eelke, it was time for the heroe of tonight: MARKUS SCHULZ from the STATES! He is a huge fan of Amsterdam and it wasn’t a big surprise that he called his new album Amsterdam. For me, it was GREAT to see him live again his set was WICKED! I had the time of my life and I’m glad we didn’t leave with Menno de Jong his set. Menno played great tunes and went crazy behind the decks as always.

If you ask me, I rate this party at 9 out of 10. Absolutely one of the best parties I’ve been to ever!

This easter weekend will start amazing with a big trance events in Amsterdam, organised by Intuition Recordings. We all know they know how to organise wicked trance parties but this time they have a very special guest; Markus Schulz. For the current number 3 of the world, originally born in Miami, Amsterdam is a second home for him and playing in Amsterdam is very special for Markus.

Having Markus Schulz in Amsterdam is promising enough already but the good thing is, he is not alone. Menno de Jong, the man behind Intuition Recordings, is someone who can’t be absent at a night like this. 2007 was a very big year for Menno de Jong and his events, his productions and his whole performance as a dj are appreciated by many people worldwide.

Of course Markus and Menno aren’t the only two artistof this night. Apart from them two other Dutchies are invited for this night in Amsterdam. Eelke Kleijn and First State are both invited to the Melkweg as well. Both of them are upcoming artists and having them play at this Intuition Night will be very very promising.

I can’t wait

Friday night of this easter weekend is “The Birds & The Bees” night in Delft. Create knows how to organise real TRANCE parties and TRANCE parties only. With a line-up like this with Rank 1, Misja Helsloot and The Thrillseekers it will be a real trancy party.

I’m not going to this party myself but I hope everyone who is going has alot of fun!

Have a small look at the line-up of this Black Hole Labelnight :)! When I saw it for the first time I was like WOW! At Trance Energy 2006 Mark Norman and Cor Fijneman were my heroes and I’m sure they won’t let me down this time.

Of course I’m really happy to see Cosmic Gate playing again. Having this German duo on a trance event equals a great set and makes the crowd go wild. For me one of the highlights of Trance Energy 2008 was the set of Nic Chagall (one of the two of Cosmic Gate) so I’m really looking forward to see both of them again!

Apart from them Phynn, Progression and Ton TB will also perform at this Black Hole Labelnight but it is the live set of Mojado of what I expect alot from. We all know Mojado from tracks like Kaktus and Hijo De Africa but this time Mr Sam and Dimitri Andreas (together Mojado) will give a live performance. I have never seen them play before so we will see!

Armada Music - Alda Events

At Queensday 2008 Alda Events (Allan Hardenberg and David Lewis) presents ‘ClockWrks‘ in Klokgebouw Philips (Eindhoven). This is a new dance concept where a couple different music styles come together.

During this event ClockWrks will present four different area’s with different styles. My favourite area is (of course) “The Armada Area” with Dubfire (DeepDish), Marco V, Markus Schulz and Remy. Apart from the Armada Area there will be the Sneakerz area, Flavour area and Rock and Roll Rehab area. With dj’s like Fedde le Grand, Erick E, Voctor Coral and many others this mega-event sounds very very promising to me.

One of the highlights of Trance Energy 2008 in Utrecht was the High Contrast stage with nine TOP-deejays. In addition to Trance Energy High Contrast presents their very first ‘labelnight’ in Outland, Rotterdam. March 29 is the night that all big artists that are part of High Contrast will perform together in Outland with two DJ area’s. Danjo, Jochen Miller, Marcel Woods, Ronald van Gelderen, Ernesto vs Bastian, Nic Chagall and Alex M.O.R.P.H. are all part of the line-up of a historcal trance night! A very special addition to this line-up is the live-act of a legendary Dutch trance duo, Rank 1.

High Contrast is a label with a very wide variation of trance and progressive music and artists. They started back in 2005 and within a few years High Contrast is one of the leading and bestselling labels when in comes to trance and progressove music. I think one of the reasons why they are so succesful is quality. Look at their line-ups, both at Trance Energy and their first label night. I think everyone has to agree with me that it cannot get any better lol.

Well… It only CAN get better if they can manage to get Paul van Dyk to play at one of their next label-nights, that would be wicked Maybe next time…
